The bishops of France warn about the bioethics bill

The permanent council of the Conference of Bishops of France spoke on Tuesday, October 6 in a statement expressing its concerns and warnings about the bioethics bill. A text published two days before the examination by the National Assembly of the proposed law on the extension of the terms of abortion.

MTuesday October 6, the permanent council of the Conference of Bishops of France published a déclaration  entitled “Violence, natural disasters, bioethics… is our society fraternal? " expressing his opposition to the bioethics bill.

The text is based on the new encyclical of Pope Francis, Fratelli tuttiand questions about the fraternal aspect of our society:

"Can a society be fraternal when it has nothing better to offer to mothers in distress than the elimination of the child they are carrying?" Can a society be fraternal when it organizes the birth of children who will not have a father, at most a parent? "

While tomorrow Thursday 8 October, the bill on abortion proposed by the Ecology, Democracy, Solidarity group will be examined in the National Assembly, the bishops also express their reluctance regarding the extension of abortion deadlines.

They invite "all citizens, especially Catholics to learn about these subjects and to make known their reservations and their opposition".
