Nine Powerful Lessons from the Red Sea Miracle

When obstacles arise in our lives and our journey is strewn with difficulties, sometimes we feel like the Hebrew people fleeing Pharaoh's army and stopped in their course before the Red Sea. God performed an extraordinary miracle for the Hebrew people. Freed from slavery, the miracle of the Red Sea was only a stage and the beginning of an extraordinary adventure.

Lhe word of God is eternal. The experiences of men of God in the Bible hold rich lessons for our lives in the 21st century. If we are cornered in a situation today, what can we learn from the life of Moses and the Hebrew people, also hopeless in the face of the Red Sea?

  • God knows what he's doing

“But God made the people take a detour by the way of the desert, towards the Red Sea. "
Exodus 13: 18

Even though the way God conducts things does not fit our agenda, he remains in control. He knows the final project, he sees the "big picture". If we would not have chosen these circumstances, we can thank him for his sovereignty and his concern for us.

  • God leads our way

“The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to guide them in their way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might walk day and night. "
Exodus 13: 21

God will not let us fend for ourselves. The pillars of cloud and fire are replaced by his Word and his Spirit. He with us and gives us the wisdom to follow his direction.

  • God is able to turn the hearts of kings in our favor

“I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them; but Pharaoh and all his army will be used to bring out my glory, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord. "
Exodus 14: 4

God holds all things in his hands. He can turn events and the hearts of the powerful in our favor.

  • When we see the obstacles, God sees the opportunities

“Pharaoh was approaching. The children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians were marching behind them. And the children of Israel were terrified, and cried to the Lord. "
Exodus 14: 10

Things seemed lost, but God had a plan. And he was exceptional!

  • We can focus on the problem or choose to trust God

“The Lord will fight for you; and you, keep silent. "
Exodus 14: 14

The people were terrified, doubted, whispered, but God ignored it. He only asked for their obedience.

  • Prayer is vital, but sometimes God says: "It is time to act"

“The Lord said to Moses, Why these cries? Speak to the children of Israel, and let them walk. "
Exodus 14: 15

Sometimes we get stuck in a situation, but God can show us what the right decision will be at any given time.

  • God Works Powerfully But Often Expects Our Obedience First

“You, lift up your rod, stretch out your hand over the sea, and split it; and the children of Israel will enter the midst of the dry sea. "
Exodus 14: 16

God not only opened the sea, but he made them walk dry on a sure path. Like the people, we are not called to walk in mud and mire, but it will be an act of obedience.

  • We are not alone. God stands between the enemy and us

“The angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, departed and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud that went before them departed and stood behind them. "
Exodus 14: 19

God will send his angels to fight and protect us. We can be sure of God's faithfulness.

  • Our God is a God of miracles

“Israel saw the mighty hand that the Lord had directed against the Egyptians. And the people feared the LORD, and believed in the LORD and in Moses his servant. "
Exodus 14: 31

This same God who opened the sea to make his people pass over dry land before closing the sea over their enemies, is at our side today. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever.
We may soon be faced with our "red sea", but God does not change. He is with us and fights for us. When we put our faith and hope in Jesus, we have the assurance that he will never forsake us.

“The Lord will fight for you. "
Exodus 14: 14
