"Never again": Mike Pompeo denounces the "crimes against humanity" and the "genocide" in progress in China

“If the Chinese Communist Party is allowed to commit genocide and crimes against humanity against its own people, imagine what it will be encouraged to do to the free world in the not-so-distant future. "

Mardi, the american secretary of state Mike Pompeo has published a statement about the "atrocities" committed in Xinjiang. He says the US administration is watching "with growing concern the Party's increasingly repressive treatment of Uyghurs and other ethnic and religious minority groups."

He denounces "brainwashing" and the use of "brute force" against the Chinese people.

“For the past four years, this administration has exposed the nature of the Chinese Communist Party and called it for what it is: a Marxist-Leninist regime that wields power over the long-suffering Chinese people by washing away brain and brute force. We have paid special attention to the CCP's treatment of the Uyghur people, a Muslim minority group that largely resides in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of western China. While the CCP has always shown deep hostility towards all people of faith, we have watched with growing concern the Party's increasingly repressive treatment of Uyghurs and other ethnic and religious minority groups. "

Mike Pompeo speaks of a "spectacular" intensification of "campaigns of repression" waged by local authorities against "Uyghur Muslims and members of other ethnic and religious minority groups, including Kazakhs and Kyrgyz".

“Their morally repugnant policies, practices and abuses are systematically designed to discriminate against and monitor ethnic Uyghurs as a unique demographic and ethnic group, restrict their freedom to travel, emigrate and attend school, and deny others fundamental human rights of assembly, expression and worship. Authorities in the People's Republic of China performed forced sterilizations and abortions of Uyghur women, forced them to marry non-Uyghurs, and separated Uyghur children from their families. "

The Secretary of State then recalls the “never again” claimed in the “civilized world” after the discovery of the exactions of the Nazis.
“Ever since Allied forces exposed the horrors of the Nazi concentration camps, the chorus 'Never Again' has become the rallying cry of the civilized world against these horrors. The simple fact that atrocity is carried out in a different way from what we have observed in the past nonetheless makes it an atrocity. ”

Mike Pompeo then asserts that “since at least March 2017, the People's Republic of China (PRC), under the leadership and control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), has committed crimes against humanity against the predominantly Muslim Uyghur population. and other members of ethnic and religious minority groups in Xinjiang ”.

“These crimes are ongoing and include: arbitrary imprisonment or other serious deprivation of physical liberty of over one million civilians, forced sterilization, torture of large numbers of people arbitrarily detained, forced labor and the imposition of draconian restrictions on freedom of religion or belief, freedom of expression and freedom of movement. The Nuremberg tribunals at the end of World War II prosecuted the perpetrators of crimes against humanity, the same crimes perpetrated in Xinjiang. "

He then denounces "a genocide against Uyghurs predominantly Muslim and other ethnic and religious minority groups in Xinjiang ”.

“I believe that this genocide is underway and that we are witnessing the systematic attempt to destroy the Uyghurs by the Chinese party-state. Government authorities in the second most economically, militarily and politically powerful country in the world have made it clear that they are engaged in the forced assimilation and eventual obliteration of a vulnerable ethnic and religious minority group, even as 'they simultaneously assert their country as a leader and attempt to reshape the international system in their image. "

Thus, the United States calls on the People's Republic of China to “immediately release all those arbitrarily detained and to abolish its system of internment, detention camps, house arrest and forced labor; end coercive population control measures, including forced sterilizations, forced abortion, forced birth control and removal of children from their families; put an end to all torture and abuse in places of detention; end the persecution of Uyghurs and other members of religious and ethnic minority groups in Xinjiang and elsewhere in China, and give Uyghurs and other persecuted minorities the freedom to travel and emigrate ”.

Mike Pompeo ends this statement by saying, "We will not be silent".

“If the Chinese Communist Party is allowed to commit genocide and crimes against humanity against its own people, imagine what it would boldly do to the free world in the not-so-distant future. "
