More than 30 villagers killed in inter-communal fighting in Cameroon

More than 30 villagers, including women and children, were killed in western Cameroon in a weekend attack by a rival ethnic group, the Presbyterian Church, a local NGO, told AFP on Monday. and a military source.

The massacre - with men, women and children burned and mutilated - was perpetrated on Saturday and Sunday in the village of Bakinjaw in the commune of Akwaya, close to the Nigerian border, the reverend assured AFP by telephone. "More than 30 people were killed," he added.

A drama that took place in the South West region, one of the English-speaking regions of the country where for five years a deadly conflict rages between armed separatist groups and law enforcement.

According to recent estimates, it has already caused the death of more than 4 civilians and the displacement of more than 000 people within these two regions.
