“May we never forget the true meaning of Easter”: Franklin Graham preaches from Ukraine

Billy Graham's son, Franklin Graham, traveled to Lviv, Ukraine on Easter Sunday to share a message about Jesus and remember the true meaning of this Christian holiday.

“As the church around the world celebrates Easter, our world becomes more violent. It is becoming more secular, and many politicians and teachers mock those who worship the Lord Jesus Christ. They are mocking. They do not believe”.

It is with these words that it began Franklin Graham's sermon, during a special Easter service in Lviv, Ukraine broadcast on the American channel Fox News.

The evangelist notably pointed out that Easter is about the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for our salvation and not about the "Easter bunny" or the "chocolate".

“May we never forget the true meaning of Easter, and this is the price that has been paid for the redemption of your soul, and this price has been paid by God. God loves us, and Easter is about God's love for humanity,” he said.

He also dwelled on the notion of sin by recalling how “the first man and the first woman chose to disobey God”, thus condemning their descendants to sin.

“What does this strange concept mean? Well, the Bible said, telling a lie is a sin. Have you ever lied? Of course you have. We have all lied. The Bible says all men are liars. It's true. Stealing is a sin,” he continued adding adultery, murder, hatred, bearing false witness and pride to this non-exhaustive list of examples.

Franklin Graham then recalled that God, in his grace, gave his only son Jesus, "died on the cross, shedding his blood, paying the price" so that those who believe in him may have eternal life.

“We can have this hope that we will be saved and forgiven and that we will be with God for eternity in heaven. Jesus said, 'I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' How do we have eternal life? It's not by works, but it's by the grace of God. »

" It's Easter. It is a resurrected saviour. It is an empty tomb,” he said.

Concluding his sermon, Franklin Graham invited viewers to pray and receive Christ into their hearts. He also called for continuing to pray for Ukraine.

The American preacher surrendered a few days ago in the war-affected country where two of its ministries operate on the ground: the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) and Samaritan's Purse who are doing their best to help people.
