Morija, the Christian NGO that helps vulnerable populations in four African countries

Morija is a Christian NGO which operates in four African countries (Burkina Faso, Chad, Cameroon and Togo). In 2022, it is launching a new water access program in Burkina-Faso. A vital project as unsanitary water kills more children than wars in the world. 

The lack of safe water and sanitation is the leading cause of disease in the world. Too many children still succumb to diarrheal diseases: + 180 victims of less than 5 years per year, while UNICEF identifies by comparison 3.400 children victims of violence in the world.

Since 1987, the Christian NGO MORIJA has carried out more than 1 boreholes and rehabilitations of water points.

In 2022, Morija is launching a new water access program in Burkina Faso which includes a sanitation and hygiene component, until 2024. In this country ranked 183rd out of 189 according to the Human Development Index (HDI) , the majority of the population lives well below the poverty line.

The objectives of this project are to provide access to drinking water, to build latrines and to set up hand washing systems for 60 people.

Morija is present in 4 African countries (Burkina Faso, Chad, Cameroon and Togo) and deploys actions in the sectors ofwater-sanitation-hygiene, but also the health, nutrition, education, rural development et humanitarian aid.
