India: 127 violent incidents against Christians in 103 days

United Christian Forum (UCF), a human rights organization based in New Delhi, sent a report to theAgenzia Fides about the acts of violence against Christians in India since the beginning of the year. It reveals that at least 127 episodes of violence, including 82 episodes of mass violence, against Christians in India were recorded in the first 103 days of 2022.

The National Catholic Coordinator says that in India, “groups of people are spreading hatred against minorities for their own political gain”. He even denounces an intensification of violence.

Among these acts of violence, the organization reports blows, threats of reprisals, churches attacked. It is about 68 churches attacked, 367 women and 366 children injured.

In India, anti-conversion laws are an instrument of persecution of Christians in India. When it was promulgated in Madhya Pradesh, 23 cases of forced conversion, in 23 days, against Muslims or Christians were deplored.
