Is God Really Good At All Times?

If God is good all the time, why don't I feel blessed?

LChristians often say it: God is good. This habit is found even in social networks. Usually, this statement comes with good news. A sick child cured? God is good ! An unemployed person who finds a job? God is good ! Debt settled? God is good ! Passed exams? God is good ! But what about when the child does not recover, when the unemployed cannot find a job, when the bills pile up without being able to pay them or when schooling becomes complicated? Is God still good?

Is God good because my problems are fixed? Often times we thank him and declare that he is good because things are going the way we want them to. But do we do it when times are tough? Or when you can't even see the end of the tunnel? Yet the Bible teaches us that God is good at all times and invites us to give thanks to him in all circumstances.

The author of Psalm 118 reminds us of 4 truths to come to see the goodness of God in our most painful experiences.

God is our refuge

The storm can be unleashed, the difficulties can accumulate, we will always find security in the presence of God.

Better to seek refuge in the Lord Than to trust in man; Better to seek refuge in the Lord Than to trust in great men. (Psalm 118: 8-9)

God is our protector

The psalmist was overrun by enemies. He felt surrounded by the fighting. But he knew that God was fighting with him and that he had nothing to fear.

You pushed me to make me fall; But the Lord helped me. (Psalm 118: 13)

God is our strength

Our problems may be intense and overwhelming for us, but they are nothing in the face of the omnipotence of God.

The Lord is my strength and the subject of my praise; He's the one who saved me. Cries of triumph and of salvation are raised in the tents of the righteous: The right hand of the Lord manifests his power! (Psalm 118: 14-15)

God is good at all times

Because it is in his nature, he works every moment for our good. Let us remain in confidence, and praise him for his mercy.

Praise the Lord, for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. (Psalm 118: 29)

If today you are in the middle of a storm, and you absolutely do not feel blessed by God, remember these 4 truths: I live in difficult times, but God is my refuge, my protector and my strength at all times.
