Attacks in Brussels: reactions from religious communities

On March 22, Belgium was in turn affected by explosions at Brussels-Zaventem airport and at the Maelbeek metro.

Personalities and religious communities react.

CRIF (Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France) says " in solidarity with the victims and the injured. "" The Crif, horrified by the attacks this morning in Brussels, expresses its total solidarity with the Belgian people, sends its condolences to the families of the victims, and its thoughts to the injured and their families. Crif strongly condemns all acts of terrorism and calls on European governments to act with force, determination and in a coordinated manner to root out this deep evil which is eating away at our democratic societies.«

THEUnion of Islamic Organizations of France « condemns in the strongest terms this terrorist attack. The UOIF strongly recalls that Muslims in France and Europe condemn and reject this barbaric terrorism and that they are horrified that their religion is associated by these criminals with such acts. The UOIF offers its condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the Belgian people. The UOIF wishes to express all its solidarity towards the whole of the Belgian people.«

The Muslim students from France (EMF) say they are shocked: “ Thinking of the victims, EMF joins in the pain of families ... #WeAreAndStay United »

THEExecutive of the Muslims of Belgium calls for him " to unity and assembly in order to face all forms of violence and terrorism.«

Le Pape, condemns " the blind violence that causes so much suffering". He  “Expresses its deep sympathy to the wounded and their families, as well as to all those who contribute to the relief, asking the Lord to bring them comfort and consolation in their ordeal. "And" entrust to the mercy of God those who have lost their lives and he associates himself in prayer with the grief of those close to them. "

The bishops of Belgium « are dismayed to learn of the attack at Zaventem airport and in the center of Brussels. They share the anguish of thousands of travelers and their families, aviation professionals and rescue teams once again in the breach. They entrust the victims to the prayer of all in this new dramatic situation. The airport chaplains are at the service of everyone on a daily basis and will provide the necessary spiritual support. May the whole country live these days in great civic responsibility.«

Billy Graham pray: " Our prayers are today with the people of Brussels, Belgium, after the news of the deadly terrorist attacks. Let us pray for the first to respond to these attacks, those who are injured and those who have lost their loved ones, and also that justice will be done. "

And recalls compassion and divine comfort:

Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort! He comforts us in all our distress so that we can comfort those who are in distress, through the encouragement that we ourselves receive from God.
2 Cor 1: 3-4
