Christian stabbed outside church after Easter service in England

"It was a shock to the community. He was stabbed outside the church by someone who had attended the service. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this terrible tragedy."

In England, in the county of Nottinghamshire, a Christian was stabbed in the abdomen on Sunday after worship by a person who had also just attended. He was taken to hospital for surgery.

On the page Facebook from Saint Stephen's Church, one could read April 9th,

“Dear Friends, After a wonderful Easter service today, very sadly, a member of our congregation was attacked. He is currently in hospital. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this terribly difficult".

Le Telegraph explains that a 20-year-old suspect was arrested by the police. He had been to that community two or three times. The victim is a regular member.

"Obviously the Church and everyone there are very upset," a church source said. A spokesperson for the Church of England spoke in remarks echoed by Sky News.

"It was a shock to the community. He was stabbed outside the church by someone who had attended the service. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this terrible tragedy."

Nottinghamshire Police's Mark Dickson wants to reassure the community.

"An investigation has since been launched to establish what happened and, despite the heavy police presence in the area, I would like to reassure the public that there is no wider threat to the community. "
