Oceans Church organized the event Christen SoCal, announced as "the largest baptism by immersion in history".

For West Coast Life Church pastor Ray Gene Wilson, the day was "historic".

"What an incredible and historic day. Thousands baptized at Pirate's Cove, God is moving to California!"

"Heaven rejoiced last night as thousands were baptized at Pirate's Cove! God is not done with California," reads an Instagram post from West Coast Life Church. .
