Aid to the Church in Need is working with local churches to rehouse Christian families who have been made homeless by the earthquake in Syria.

The Christian charity organization Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) has joined forces with the Ecumenical Joint Committee of Churches in Aleppo to help around 430 families to rent temporary accommodation.

ACN says 2500 Christian family homes need repairs. A month after the earthquake, many Syrians are still sheltering in Church-run churches and schools.

The 430 families who cannot return to their homes after the earthquake will benefit from one year of paid rent. The priority, explains Xavier Bisits, head of ACN projects for Syria, is "to rent temporary accommodation for families who cannot return to their homes, because it is neither sustainable nor dignified for them. to continue to sleep on the floor in the parish halls".

“In any case, we are working with local churches to help families pay their rent, so they can stay in a safe place while buildings are inspected or repaired, as we hope they can be repaired in certain cases."

Father Hugo Alaniz, pastor of the parish of the Annunciation, thanks God and the organization Aid to the Church in Need for their support.

"Thank you, thank you for being with us."
