Islamic State releases video of execution of 20 Christians in Nigeria

Brandishing a knife, an activist claims to be acting in retaliation for the murders of prominent Islamic State leaders.

according to International Christian Concern, Islamic State released the video of the execution of 20 Christians, in Borno State, Nigeria, by militants of an ISIS-affiliated group in the East African Province Islamic State West (ISWAP).

One of the militants, speaking in the Hausa language and brandishing a knife, claimed in the video that he was acting in retaliation for the killings of prominent Islamic State leaders, including Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi, who was killed in February by US special forces in Syria.

La with the BBC claims not to be able to verify the content of the video or the location where the footage was shot. Nigerian authorities have reportedly not commented on the video to date.
