At one point or another in life, we can all be affected by this terrible feeling of rejection.
The feeling of rejection generates in us incomprehension, revolt, anxiety, and even more serious, the temptation to withdraw into oneself. When we are rejected, we risk ending up rejecting ourselves, having a devalued image of ourselves.
Joseph was rejected by his brothers who sold him into slavery. David, too, was rejected by his brothers when he came to bring them provisions (1 Samuel 17:18). Jesus himself experienced rejection from his brothers.
There will always be people around you who, for various reasons, will reject you. Joseph, David, Jesus, and thousands of others triumphed over rejection. You who have experienced or know rejection, we will pray for you today.
"Lord, we pray for all those who, on this day, following the rejection they have just experienced, consider themselves worthless, useless, and are tempted to withdraw into themselves. Lord, may your Holy Spirit remind them how precious they are in your eyes. As Joseph, betrayed by his brothers and rejected by them, knew how to trust in you, let them trust in you, and take over bitterness, frustration, anger, resentment, withdrawal into oneself! Fill their hearts with your wonderful love. May, overcoming this rejection, they be able to fully enter into the plans you have for them. We have closed a door to them, but you are going to open it for them a portal, in the name of Jesus, amen!”
