Thailand recognizes 3 Catholic churches, the first in 93 years

By recognizing three new Catholic churches, the Thai Ministry of Culture wishes to “promote religious harmony”.

There were until recently 57 officially state-recognized Catholic churches in Thailand. But, after 93 years of waiting, 3 churches have just been approved.

According to a report by the Thai Ministry of Culture, it is a question of "promoting religious harmony" in this country with a Buddhist majority.

A decision hailed by the Social Communication Commission of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Thailand. She claims that this decree responds to the “needs of the current situation and provides greater certainty and guarantees for the future”.

according to Vatican News, evangelical Christian parishes, which operate outside of any regulation, are multiplying.
