Kenya: Christian Persecutor Transformed by the Gospel Converts and Asks Church for Forgiveness

"It has brought more people to Christ and trained more leaders who serve and equip others to do the work of ministry and has grown new fellowships. We were able to plant 45 house churches in one year."

For ten years, a village chief in Kenya persecuted a church, believing that its members were leading people away from tribal religious customs. The village chief had arrested the pastor, imprisoned Christians. But when he attends the funeral of a Christian whom he had imprisoned several times, the village chief will be overwhelmed by the pastor's preaching.

“His life changed forever,” says the church leader.

"The local chief who had been hostile to the church came forward during the funeral service and said he wanted to be born again and be saved, because the gospel had changed him and he wanted forgiveness from the church."

This unexpected conversation was the first link in a great chain. Christians were then able to share the gospel in shopping malls and homes and through radio broadcasts.

"It has brought more people to Christ and trained more leaders who serve and equip others to do the work of ministry and has grown new fellowships. We were able to plant 45 house churches in one year."
