Colonel Jacques Donzé, who is already at the head of the Congregation of the Army ofu Salut since May 1, was elected President of the Salvation Army Foundation for France and Belgium on Friday June 24.

Jacques Donzé became the new president of the Salvation Army Foundation for France and Belgium on Friday. The Colonel, who already heads the Congregation of the Salvation Army, that is to say the denominational branch of the organization since May 1, thus succeeds Colonel Daniel Naud.

He has already assumed the management of the association in other European countries, in particular in Italy and Greece where he was appointed in February 2020, i.e. in the midst of a pandemic.

For him, the question of the meaning of their action is essential. He believes that it “is not a question of always becoming bigger at any price”. “I prefer a smaller but meaningful organization, rather than all-out development that would take us away from our values,” says the new president of the Foundation, who insists on the “spiritual foundation” of the Salvation Army.

“Our spiritual foundation must carry us, with respect for the ideas and convictions of each. »

Born in Lausanne in 1964, Jacques Donzé became an officer of the Salvation Army, that is to say a pastor, in 1990. With his wife Claude-Evelyne Donzé, who was appointed Friday Territorial President of Women's Ministries and Family for the Salvation Army in France and Belgium, they served in several parishes in Switzerland and Belgium.

In these churches, which are called “posts” within the Salvation Army, he carried out pastoral and social work before becoming a youth leader. According to a press release from the organization, the Colonel is "particularly attached to the question of education and transmission". In particular, he has created many activities for children and teenagers.
