Homophobia: The CNEF recalls that no violence against a person can be justified by the Gospel

On the occasion of the World Day Against Homophobia, the National Council of Evangelicals of France recalls that no "physical or psychological violence against a person because of their sexual orientation or their gender identity can not be justified by the Gospel or the example of Christ”. 

May 17 has been World Day Against Homophobia for 17 years.

On the occasion of this date, this Tuesday, the National Council of Evangelicals of France (CNEF) recalled in a story published on Instagram that no "physical or psychological violence against a person because of their sexual orientation or their identity as gender cannot be justified by the gospel or the example of Christ”.

"Evangelical Protestants are committed to the protection of people and are opposed to all forms of abuse, especially those committed on people questioning their sexual orientation and their gender identity", can we read in the following of this publication.

The CNEF also recalls that the Good News of the Gospel “is for everyone, because we are far from the biblical ideal and our model: Jesus Christ! ".

Last January, parliament passed bill banning conversion therapy, practices that intend to transform sexual orientation or gender identity. An approach welcomed by the CNEF, which then reaffirmed "its commitment to the protection of individuals and its opposition to any form of abuse".

The evangelical organization had declared that it hoped "that this new offense would make it easier for victims to pursue criminal proceedings, while preserving for everyone freedom of worship and freedom of expression on social issues relating to the orientation sexuality and gender identity”.
