
The missionary priest of the Independent Delegation of the Antilles of Claretian Missionaries, Father Antoine Macaire has been released, after being kidnapped on February 7 in Haiti.
THEAgenzia Fides reports the release of the missionary priest of the Independent Delegation of the Antilles of the Claretian Missionaries, Father Antoine Macaire Christian Noah.
On the morning of February 7, the priest, originally from Cameroon, was kidnapped on his way to his community of Kazal. The criminal gang behind the kidnapping demanded a large sum of money for his release.
On the day of his kidnapping, the Independent Delegation of the West Indies of the Claretian Missionaries of Haiti, asked everyone "to unite in prayer so that Father Antoine is released safe and sound", according to the Haiti Gazette.
After 10 days of captivity, the Claretian missionary "succeeded in escaping his captors", reports Fr Fausto Cruz Rosa, Major Superior of the Claretian missionaries of the Antilles to Agenzia Fides.
After his release, the Delegation thanked all those who prayed for the priest and spoke of a context of "violence and uncertainty" that is spreading in Haiti.
"We thank everyone for joining us in prayer and for the solidarity you have shown us in this context of violence and uncertainty that the Haitian people are experiencing. For our part, we will continue our commitment to serve ."
