Discovering his Christian faith, a husband deprives his wife of food and abandons her in a park to be devoured by wild animals

"My husband came back from work and called me, and I didn't answer because I was sound asleep. He opened the door and found me with my Bible and a notebook on my chest. . He shouted: 'Allahu Akbar'."

Sharifa Muhando is 27 years old. She lives in Uganda, where she became a Christian. When he found out, her husband, a Muslim, started beating her and depriving her of food.

This mother of a two-year-old child had managed to hide her faith since the summer of 2021, but on May 10, she fell asleep while reading her Bible.

She tells her story to Morning Star News from his hospital bed.

"My husband came back from work and called me, and I didn't answer because I was sound asleep. He opened the door and found me with my Bible and a notebook on my chest. . He shouted: 'Allahu Akbar'." "He asked me what was going on, I told him this is a holy book. He got angry and beat me that night and told me he was punishing me for leaving school. Islam, and that he would automatically be rewarded in the Jannah [paradise] by Allah".

Her husband then deprives her of food and threatens her with death if she talks about it. Then, on May 17, he decided to abandon her in Queen Elizabeth National Park to be devoured by wild animals.

It is finally Sharifa's pastor who, passing by the road that runs along the park, goes to see her and comes to her aid.

"Sharifa's health was poor, and she has been undergoing treatment for her injuries - her spleen in particular was affected, as her husband hit her with a blunt object, and she has pain in her neck. Doctors are also treating her for starvation and trauma-related symptoms. At the moment, Sharifa needs prayers for speedy healing and recovery from trauma and for her future life."
