Using experience gained from previous Ebola outbreaks in Liberia or the Democratic Republic of Congo, Samaritan's Purse is training healthcare workers on infection prevention and control in Uganda.

Samaritan's Purse, a Christian humanitarian organization chaired by Franklin Graham, works in Uganda which is facing the Ebola virus since last September.

Cindy Albertson, team leader in Uganda for this deployment, explains that Samaritan's Purse is partnering with the Ugandan government in this fight.

“Samaritan's Purse is privileged to partner with the Ministry of Health and the Kampala Capital Authority to work alongside health facilities to scale up measures that will break the chains of Ebola transmission. These measures not only protect healthcare workers, but also their patients and their communities. »

In Kampala, thanks to the experience acquired during previous Ebola epidemics in Liberia or the Democratic Republic of Congo, Samaritan's Purse trains health workers on infection prevention and control. The organization works with five hospitals and several medical facilities in the slums of Kampala.

Le Ebola virus causes severe disease, with an average case fatality rate of 50%. It is transmitted to humans by wild animals, then the transmission then takes place between humans.
