
God is sovereign. He reigns from all eternity. His Word is crystal clear about it.
It is difficult to understand it, but even in the most terrible times that we have to live through, in economic crises, disease, natural disasters, armed conflicts… God is sovereign. He was sovereign when his only son died on the cross, and he still reigns today.
1. He is sovereign over nature
He created the earth by his power, He founded the world by his wisdom, He extended the heavens by his intelligence. - Jeremiah 10:12-13
2. He is sovereign over events
We cast the lot in the skirt of the robe, But all decision comes from the Eternal. - Proverbs 16:33
3. He is sovereign over our plans
There are many plans in the heart of man, But it is the purpose of the Eternal that is accomplished. - Proverbs 19:21
4. He is sovereign over life and death
When I was only a shapeless mass, your eyes saw me; And on your book were all written The days that were destined for me, Before any of them existed. - Psalm 139:16
5. He is sovereign over disease and disability
The Lord said to him, Who made the mouth of man? and who makes dumb or deaf, sighted or blind? Am I not the Lord? - Exodus 4:11
6. He is sovereign at the time of the death of his only son
Men of Israel, listen to these words! Jesus of Nazareth, that man to whom God bore witness before you by the miracles, wonders and signs which he wrought through him in the midst of you, as you yourselves know; -Acts 2:22-23
7. He is sovereign over the choices of humanity
The heart of the king is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; He tilts it wherever he wants. - Proverbs 21:1
8. He is sovereign over fertility
But he gave Anne a double portion; for he loved Anne, whom the Lord had made barren. - 1 Samuel 1:5
9. He is sovereign over suffering
Behold, we say blessed are those who have suffered patiently. You have heard of Job's patience, and you have seen the end the Lord gave him, for the Lord is full of mercy and compassion. - James 5:11
10. He is sovereign over the animal kingdom
My God sent his angel and shut the mouths of the lions, which did me no harm, because I was found innocent before him; nor before you, O king, have I done anything wrong. - Daniel 6:22
