G7 leaders announced on Saturday the formation of a future "working group" on artificial intelligence (AI), to lead discussions on the "responsible use" of these tools and the risks they pose, including "disinformation".
“We instruct relevant ministers to establish the Hiroshima process on AI, through a working group built in cooperation with international organizations, for discussions on generative AI by the end of the year. end of the year", according to the press release of the G7, meeting from Friday to Sunday in this Japanese city.
Like ChatGPT, the best known of them today, generative AI software (capable of producing computer code, text, images, sound, video, etc.) is booming. around the world, while causing deep concern in many sectors.
The discussions of the G7 working group on the subject will thus be able to focus on "governance, the protection of intellectual property rights" and the "responsible use" of these new technologies, but also on the means of countering "the manipulation of 'information' and 'disinformation' via these tools.
"We are committed to advancing multi-stakeholder approaches to developing standards for AI, within legally binding frameworks," the G7 added.
“We recognize the importance of procedures that promote transparency, openness, fair processes, impartiality, respect for privacy and inclusion in order to promote responsible AI”, further insisted the leaders of this group of major industrialized democracies (United States, Japan, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Italy and Canada).
