Camille's July 22 editorial: 3.462 Christians killed in Nigeria

According to a report published on Sunday July 18 by Intersociety, an international society for civil liberties and the rule of law, 3,462 Christians were killed in 2021 in Nigeria, murders perpetrated by members of Boko Haram and radicalized Fulani herders.

Ranked 9th in the 2021 Global Index of the Persecution of Christians by the NGO Open Doors, Nigeria is the country with "the greatest number of Christians murdered for their faith".

On Wednesday, July 14, Mushir Alam, judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan rejected the appeal of Bishop Azad Marshall who had filed a request for a constitutional petition to be operated in order to protect Christian girls against conversion and forced marriage.

“Government officials are unwilling to accept the fact that the conversion and forced marriage of underage Christian girls is in fact an attempt to cover up kidnapping and rape,” said the bishop.

Heavy rains have hit China's Henan Province in recent days, causing major floods. The city of Zhengzhou was particularly affected by these deadly floods which killed 33 people while 376 people were evacuated.

THEarticle of the day in collaboration with the Christian feminine magazine SpirutuElles, invites you to discover a reflection on faith thanks to the testimony of a mother of a family. As a result of her daughter's journey of faith, she noticed that her own faith had become routine. An encouragement to spend more time in prayer and reading the Bible!

News which painfully reminds us of the fate endured by our Christian brothers and sisters in Nigeria and Pakistan and which should encourage us to keep them in prayer. They also invite us to pray for the victims of bad weather in China and especially to spend more time with the Lord.
