Interview with Lindy Conant

Missionary, songwriter and worship leader, Lindy Conant is a young woman driven by a passion to see the gospel spread with signs and wonders. She wants to “see every nation and every soul radically experience the love of Jesus”. Thus, very young, she chose to devote herself entirely to proclaiming the Gospel and proclaiming the love of Jesus. She travels through universities and large gatherings with her group "Lindy Conant and the Circuit Riders", to lead young people in praise, adoration and consecration. She is committed to Ben Fitzgerald's teams, and will be present during the event Awakening Europe, from June 29 to July 2, 2017. Lindy has agreed to answer questions from the editorial staff ofInfo Chrétienne. We thank her for having shared her entire journey with humility and sincerity. Thank you for this zeal for the souls that she communicates around her and that she has been able to transmit through these lines.

  • Can you tell us about your meeting with Jesus?

Does God still do such things today ?!I grew up in a Christian family, but it wasn't until I turned 18 that I accepted Jesus into my life. Throughout my life I have thought that being a Christian keeps us from going to hell. However, even believing that my salvation was linked only to Eternity… I always felt that there was more to it. I started doing Bible studies in college. During these Bible studies I often said to myself, "Does God still do such things today ?!" Does he continue to heal the sick, etc ?! ". I developed a thirst to find out what God REALLY was.

In high school I was fascinated by mission trips, I enrolled in all the churches that let me participate. I was inspired by traveling and discovering new things. I loved to see the blessings of God around the world. However, it wasn't until my last years in high school that everything really changed. As I walked through the streets of Mexico, I saw a sick and poor old lady sitting on a chair. I rushed to her to tell her about Jesus, she looked at me with her piercing blue eyes and asked me if I knew Jesus. My heart contracted… How is it that a person who had absolutely nothing, and who had every reason in the world to be mad at God, could be so full of life and joy ??

The whole world must know the greatest invitation of all time
I decided then that I wanted to know God the same way that this broken old lady did. So I asked my parents for permission to take a year off and look for a missionary school. With their blessing, I began the research and found myself at YWAM. In 2007, I went on missionary trips, and for the rest there are only stories to tell. I met God in 2007 and accepted him as my Lord and put my life in his hands and that's when I started to experience the gospel of the kingdom of heaven !! !! During my whole life, I have known the Gospel of Salvation, but I had no idea of GOD'S LOVE FOR ME !!! It changed everything !!! The more I realized God's love for me, the more I felt the passion to preach and evangelize! The whole world must know the greatest invitation of ALL TIME !!!!

  • What was the trigger that marked the beginning of your ministry?

I finished discipleship school with YWAM in 2008. I asked God what I needed to do next. I didn't know that God planned for me to make music. In 2008, Andy and Holly Byrd moved to Kona, HI. They were invited by Loren Cunningham to run a house of prayer there. God called me to settle in Kona in the service of this house of prayer. Before learning this, I was helping to lead the songs at YWAM and I was passionate about seeing the world discover the love of God and touching lost souls through music.

  • Life is sometimes subject to hardship. Would you agree to share one with us, and especially to make us discover how you overcame it with the grace of God?

Learn to be loved for who I am and not for what I doIn 2013, I suffered from vocal cord nodules. It was horrible. I couldn't sing anymore and for a while I couldn't even speak. Without Jesus in my life, I probably would have fallen into a great depression. One of the greatest things God has taught me during this time is to learn to be loved for who I am and not for what I do. Not being able to sing for a while made me feel like I was having an identity crisis. The grace of God was sufficient for me in several ways during this period of my life. This ordeal made me understand what God is and what I am in Him.

  • What is the project or achievement that you are most proud of?

A giant team that obeys the voice of GodThat's a difficult question… It's a giant team that simply obeys the voice of God. We could not achieve all of our projects without the grace of God. I would say our traveling team shares a passion to see souls saved. We are in our 6th year of campus service, and it is a great honor for me to be a part of it! I am really proud of our teams and the way in which they were eager to listen to the voice of God and to do his will!

  • What is the biggest lesson you have learned through your ministry?

Wow! Another tough question, haha! Mainly because now I feel like I am learning from it every day. Below are the three things that came to my mind while reading this question:

1. To keep a pure heart. Proverbs 4:23 tells us,

Guard your heart more than anything else, for from it come the sources of life.

I believe this word asks us to keep our hearts from sin! In Jesus we have life in abundance. But in the ministry, there are practical ways to keep a pure heart and embrace the power of forgiveness.

2. Consider all things lost without it.

The moment when Jesus does not have the first place in our calling… We will fail. I am running towards the goal, to win the prize for the heavenly calling of God in Jesus Christ. If we go against this, we will become "ministry robots" haha!

3. Have fun!

To rejoice in fellowship with God! Have the fear of God! To please yourself !

  • And if we had to do it again ! What would you change

Be bolder and speak more of the truth with love.

  • Who are the people who have had a major role throughout your career?

There are a few couples who have had a huge influence in my life! There are a few couples who have had a huge influence in my life! First, there are Loren and Darlene Cunningham, the founders of YWAM. They constantly live in fidelity, perseverance and joy! Second, there are Brian and Christy Brennt. Despite the illness, the two burn with unwavering fire to preach the Gospel and to mobilize the new generation !!! Third, there are Andy and Holly Byrd. The moment I met them, I was struck by the zeal and love they have for God. They share a passion for the apostolate and I would not have been the person I am without this couple. Lastly there are Heidi and Rolland Baker. I met Heidi when I was 20, and had no idea how important our friendship would be. She has led a life like a love song for Jesus that resonates everywhere she goes! I am truly grateful to each of them for the influence they have had in my life.

  • Do you have role models, mentors, people who push you to move on and be better?

Certainly ! All the people I mentioned above!

  • Who is the biblical character who is a source of inspiration for you? And why ?

Jesus - his three years of ministry over his 33 years of life demonstrated the Kingdom culture through which we can learn to live now! David - by his courage!

  • What advice could you give to those who wish to embark on the same path as you?

Don't conform to this world! Follow Jesus. Listen to his voice and let your love for him and his love for you guide you.

  • How do you see your next years in the ministry? What is the project (s) that are close to your heart?

We're living in the greatest harvest the world has ever seenI believe we are going to witness another missionary movement for students across the planet. I am convinced that we are living in the greatest harvest that the world has never seen or known. We hope and pray that in the years to come, the gospel will reach campuses across the planet. In regards to Lindy Conant and the Circuit Riders, we hope to make more music to bring people to God and inspire them to be fully committed to Him.

  • The news is often troubled and sad. Persecuted Christians, adrift society, natural disasters, major ethical changes… What is your position in the face of these events? Are you more committed, attentive watchman, whistleblower, intercessor? ...

In him we have hope and eternal lifeIn the face of all this, I commit myself so that the Gospel of the Lord Jesus is preached. We announce that Jesus Christ is the only way that leads to God and that in Him we have HOPE and ETERNAL LIFE. We announce to people that our hope and faith should be placed in Jesus Christ and not in the kings of the earth.

Lindy, thank you for taking the time to help us get to know you better. Thank you for this zeal that you communicate to everyone. May the Lord bless you in the next steps and grant you what your heart desires.
