US church donates 45 euros to slavery reparations fund

Funds will be used for local community projects.

Evanston United Methodist Church has decided to donate US$50, or more than €080, to the Evanston Community Reparations Fund.

Grace Imathiu, senior pastor of the church, told the Christian post that this amount corresponds to an offering collected during the Easter 2021 celebrations.

She wishes to lead by example, and claims an "experience of renewed courage to confront and repent of our past injustices", "a renewed sense of determination and bravery that we can do great and difficult things as a community", but also “experience of great hope for our future together”.

Led by African-Americans, this fund is used to finance local community projects.
